Dr. Douglas Jang | MD, CCFP
Dr. Jang completed his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Toronto in 1996. He completed his Family Practice Residency at the University of Toronto from 1996 to 1998 at the Toronto East General Hospital. He has been working at the Markham Stouffville Hospital as an Emergency Room Physician since 1998 and at the Markham Medical Centre since 2002. Dr. Jang has 2 children, his youngest having autism.
Dr. Amanda Adams | MD, CCFP
Dr. Adams completed a BScH in 1992 (Life Sciences) and a Master’s of Science in Physiology (1994) at Queen’s University. She graduated from McMaster University Medical School in Hamilton in 1996. From 1996-1998 she completed a Family Medicine Residency at Queen’s University. Special clinical interests include women’s health, pediatrics, and palliative care. She works as a palliative care physician at the Pain and Symptom clinic associated with Markham Stouffville Hospital’s Oncology Department. She also enjoys resident teaching and has worked in the Departments of Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario and The University of British Columbia. Dr. Adams has 2 therapy dogs and does volunteer work with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program.
Dr. Susmita Esufali | MD, CCFP
Dr. Esufali graduated from the University of Ottawa Medical School in 2012. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2015. Prior to embarking on a career in medicine, she completed both a Masters degree and Ph.D degree at the University of Toronto in Cancer Research. At present, Dr. Esufali also works as a Rehabilitation Physician at Markham Stouffville Hospital and looks after residents at Amica Unionville and Unionvilla Long Term Care Facility. Her clinical interests include General Family Practice, Women’s Health, and Care of the Elderly. She is also involved in teaching medical students and family practice residents at the University of Toronto, Markham Stouffville Hospital site. She is Educational Lead for the Geriatrics Program for Family Medicine Program at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Susmita enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.
Dr. Dennis Wong | MD, CCFP
Dr. Wong completed his BSc in Human Biology in 2009 and his MSc in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2011 at the University of Toronto. He graduated from the School of Medicine at Queen’s University in 2015, and completed his Family Medicine Residency at Markham Stouffville Hospital and the University of Toronto in 2017. Following his residency, Dr. Wong joined the Markham Medical Centre as well as the Inpatient Rehabilitation service at Markham Stouffville Hospital. He has a keen interest in teaching medical residents and students. Dr. Wong was born and raised in Markham and continues to live there with his wife and two young children. He is an avid skier and soccer player and looks forward to seeing the Leafs bring home a Stanley Cup within his lifetime.
Dr. Monica Dai | MD, CCFP-PC
Dr. Dai graduated from Queen’s University Medical School in 2013. She completed residency training in Family Medicine at Western University in 2015 and an enhanced skills fellowship in Palliative Care at the University of Toronto in 2016. In addition to her work at Markham Medical Centre, she works as a Palliative Care physician at Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) on the Palliative Care Unit and in the Pain and Symptom Clinic associated with the MSH Oncology Department. She is involved in teaching family practice residents at MSH. Dr. Dai enjoys cooking, hiking, travelling and trying new restaurants in the Toronto area. She is currently learning Mandarin in hopes of one day being conversant in the language.
Dr. Emilie Lam | MD, CCFP-PC
Dr. Emilie Lam graduated from the University of Toronto School of Medicine in 2010, and completed her residence at the University of Ottawa in 2012. Having a keen interest in palliative medicine, Dr. Lam co-founded the Evergreen Palliative Doctor Team, a community palliative team offering in-home palliative services to patients in Markham and Stouffville. Dr. Lam also holds an enhanced skills designation in palliative care from the Canadian College of Family Physicians.
Dr. Katie Cao | MD, CCFP
Dr. Cao completed a BHSc in Health Sciences at McMaster University in 2010. She graduated from the School of Medicine at Queen’s University in 2015, and completed her Family Medicine Residency at Memorial University in 2017. Following her residency, Dr. Cao completed various locums in Newfoundland and the Greater Toronto Area. She joined Markham Medical Centre in 2022. She has an interest in Prenatal Care, Pediatrics and Palliative Care. Dr. Cao grew up in Markham and continues to live there with her husband and son. Dr. Cao enjoys cooking all different types of cuisines, travelling the world and hiking in her spare time.
